English workshop brings joy and learning to Orang Asli school

ENGLISH may not be the first or second language for the students of Sekolah Kebangsaan Pos Bersih in Slim River, Perak, but a new speech and drama workshop seeks to improve their skills in the language through fun learning activities.

The English Speech and Drama Workshop programme is jointly organised by Yayasan Sime Darby (YSD), Enfiniti Academy, Bahagian Pengurusan Sekolah Harian (BPSH), English Language Teaching Centre (ELTC) Malaysia and the Education Performance and Delivery Unit (PADU).

It was launched on July 13, 2017 at SK Pos Bersih, the first Orang Asli school selected for the programme.

The workshop comprises speech training, drama classes, choral speaking and other activities geared towards primary school students in underprivileged and rural schools. It aims to empower both students and teachers to start and run their own English drama club in school.

Disadvantaged students get to experience a high-quality and enjoyable learning experience outside school hours. Teachers, too, will improve their skills through the programme’s toolkits and modules. – July 22, 2017.
