FORMER prime minister Najib Razak is being investigated under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activies Act 2001 (Amla) in relation to the 1MDB scandal.

  • This means so many offenses were, in fact, committed by those receiving monies derived (stolen) from 1MDB. Their defense can no longer be a simple 'I did not know' denial of wrongdoing due to a neglect of due diligence. Even Nazir Razak, the CIMB boss, used his account to distribute monies on behalf of Najib at one point in time.
