Four palm oil players donate RM5.3 million to Tabung Harapan

FOUR major palm oil industry players have contributed RM5.3 million to Tabung Harapan Malaysia, which was set up to help pay off the nation’s debts.

Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd (KLK) and IOI Corporation Bhd donated RM2 million each, while Sime Darby Plantation Bhd gave RM1 million and Sarawak Oil Palms Bhd, RM300,000.

Primary Industries Minister Teresa Kok received the cheques from the companies’ representatives at her office in Putrajaya today.

“The palm oil industry’s commitment to and continuous support for the country show that they do not focus solely on making profit, but also fulfil their CSR (corporate social responsibility).

“I salute you for rising to the occasion and giving to the country without expecting anything in return.”

Present were KLK CEO Lee Oi Hian, IOI group CEO Lee Yeow Chor, Sime Darby Plantation executive deputy chairman and managing director Mohd Bakke Salleh, and Sarawak Oil Palms group CEO Paul Wong. – Bernama, July 20, 2018.
