THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has begun questioning former 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) general counsel Jasmine Loo Ai Swan over her role in the misappropriation of money involving the sovereign wealth fund, its chief commissioner Azam Baki said.

He told reporters at an event in Sepang that the commission started its interrogations on Monday and this would take three days to complete.

“We will liaise with the police if we need more time,” he said.

Loo, an associate of fugitive businessman Low Take Jho, better known as Jho Low, was arrested by police in July. She had been on the run for several years.

Azam also said that the authorities were still unable to identify Low’s whereabouts.

He said there was still a long way to go to arrest Low.

“I’m not sure. I think, if you ask my opinion, not yet, still far,” Azam said. – September 6, 2023.
