‘Inspector Sheila’ charged with insulting colleague, public

A POLICE inspector claimed trial to intending to insult the modesty of a lance corporal and a member of the public, as well as criminal intimidation towards another civilian.

Sheila Sharon Steven Kumar, 34, was charged before magistrate Chai Guan Hock at the Selayang court this morning. 

On the first charge, Sheila was charged under section 506 of the penal code with intimidating Silverkoomarie Muthiah, 69, and faces up to two years’ jail or a fine, or both. 

She is accused of committing the offence at 8, Jalan SG 1/1, Taman Sri Gombak on the afternoon of June 15.

She was also charged with intending to insult the modesty of a man under section 509 of the penal code, which provides for a maximum five-year prison sentence or a fine.

Sheila was accused of calling the 41-year-old man ugly, fat, and a rhinoceros, at the same location at 1pm on the same day.

Chai allowed her bail of RM3,000 in one surety. 

Sheila was represented by M. Manoharan and M. Hariharan.
