SELANGOR police are probing into the death threats and vandalism acts committed against two crew members of the “Mentega Terbang” film yesterday.

State police chief Hussein Omar Khan said following two reports lodged at the Ampang Jaya and Kajang district police headquarters, the cases are classified as criminal intimidation and mischief, under sections 507 and 427 of the penal code.

“The public is advised not to make any speculations that could affect harmony and peace in society. Police view these incidents seriously and will investigate until those involved are arrested and brought to justice,” he said.

He urged those with any further information regarding the two incidents to head to the nearest police station or contact Inspector Mu’az Mazlan (Kajang) at 017-9788804 or Inspector Alif (Ampang) at 018-9834211 to facilitate police investigation.

Director Khairi Anwar Jailani said yesterday red and black paint was poured on his car, while actor Arjun Thanaraju’s car was not only splashed with paint but also drenched in acid.

“What happened is just disheartening and it has turned physical. Some quarters are not happy with ‘Mentega Terbang’ and decided to act in a violent manner.

“At about 5am today (yesterday), my car was splashed with red and black paint and the assailants left notes on my car, while Arjun’s car was doused with acid too.

“We informed the other cast members and they too are now worried about their own safety. All of us feel that someone is watching over us and we have to look over our shoulders.

“My immediate family members are worried, too, my wife especially. All of us are not comfortable,” said the 30-year-old.

Last Wednesday, police recorded statements from the film producer and six cast members. – Bernama, March 17, 2023.

  • well done PDRM for acting quickly and please apprehend all the culprits soon and teach then that there is the rule of law in this country. They must be punished severely as a deterrent.
