THE Selangor legislative assembly will be dissolved on Friday.

Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah signed the proclamation of the dissolution at Istana Alam Shah this morning following an audience with Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari.

The ruler’s private secretary, Mohamad Munir Bani, announced the dissolution in a simple ceremony at Balai Dewan Diraja, Istana Alam Shah.

The dissolution of the assembly comes two days before its term officially ends on June 25.

With the dissolution of the assembly, all state seats will fall vacant.

Assembly Speaker Ng Suee Lim will inform the Election Commission about the dissolution.

Polls must be within 60 days of the date of dissolution.

Apart from Selangor, five other states are set to go to the polls. They are Penang, Kedah, Negri Sembilan, Kelantan and Terengganu.

All of the assemblies are waiting to be dissolved. – June 19, 2023.
