HUMAN Resources minister V. Sivakumar has asked the media not to speculate about the arrest of his aide by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
In a statement, the minister said he would not comment on the MACC investigation.
“My ministry and I will give the authorities our full co-operation, if necessary.
“I hope that the media will not speculate or make assumptions that can affect any parties until the agency has completed its investigation,” he said in a brief statement today.
This morning, the MACC detained the aide – reportedly during a raid on the ministry – as part of an investigation into the hiring of foreign workers.
MACC Chief Commissioner Azam Baki confirmed the aide’s detention, along with that of several others, in a brief response to The Malaysian Insight.
The MACC is believed to have raided the ministry following allegations the suspects were involved in recruitment of migrant workers, despite the conflict of interest due to their respective positions as civil servants. – April 13, 2023.
