WATER supply in all 397 affected areas in the three regions of Petaling, Kuala Lumpur and Hulu Langat is expected to be fully restored by 8pm tomorrow, Pengurusan Air Selangor said.

Air Selangor corporate communications head Elina Basri said as of 3.30pm today the Langat 2 water treatment plant had begun operating to treat the water supply.

“Treated water supply will be distributed in stages to consumers once the distribution system is stabilised,” Elina said in a brief statement.

It was reported earlier today that 394 areas in Petaling, Kuala Lumpur and Hulu Langat are expected to experience unscheduled water cuts from 10am today.

Air Selangor tweeted that it had to shut down the Langat 2 water treatment plant at 4.30am.

“An accident occurred at KM75.9 of the Karak-Bentong highway, with chemical pollution in the river forcing us to halt operations at Langat 2.”

The last major cut in the Klang Valley took place in May when taps to 472 areas were turned off following odour pollution at the Jenderam Hilir raw water pump station intake. – August 11, 2022.
