PENGURUSAN Air Selangor today said the Langat 2 water treatment plant is expected to commence operations at 3.30pm today.

In a brief Facebook post, it said treated water supply will be distributed in stages to the consumers once the water supply distribution system has been stabilised.

“Alternative assistance through tankers is being mobilised to consumers, with priority given to critical premises.

“Air Selangor is making every effort to minimise the impact of water supply disruption to the affected consumers,” it said.

It was reported earlier today that 394 areas in Petaling, Kuala Lumpur and Hulu Langat are expected to experience unscheduled water cuts starting at 10am today.

Air Selangor tweeted that it had to shut down the Langat 2 water treatment plant at 4.30am.

“An accident occurred at KM75.9 of the Karak-Bentong highway, with chemical pollution in the river forcing us to halt operations at Langat 2.”

The last major cut in the Klang Valley took place in May when taps to 472 areas were turned off following odour pollution at the Jenderam Hilir raw water pump station intake.

Operations at the Sungai Semenyih and Bukit Tampoi water treatment plants were temporarily halted due to odour pollution. – August 11, 2022.
