Dry taps in 472 Klang Valley areas due to odour pollution

AIR Selangor has announced that 472 areas in the Klang Valley would face unscheduled face water cuts following odour pollution detected at the Jenderam Hilir raw water pump station intake earlier today.

“Operations at the Sg Semenyih and Bukit Tampoi water treatment plants has been temporarily halted due to odour pollution,” it said in a statement.

Five localities – Petaling (172 areas), Hulu Langat (54), Sepang (196), Putrajaya (23) and Kuala Langat (27) are expected to experience unscheduled water supply disruptions starting 3pm.

Air Selangor said water tankers would be mobilised to provide consumers with back-up water supply with priority given to critical premises.

It added that consumers can get the list of areas affected by the water supply disruption on the Air Selangor website well as on its official social media platforms.

The last major water cut took place in December last year when 463 areas in the Klang Valley faced water supply cuts after odour pollution was detected in Sg Semenyih. – May 3, 2022.
