PERIKATAN Nasional is leaving it to Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob to set a date for a meeting to discuss the terms of cooperation between the coalition and Putrajaya, its chairman Muhyiddin Yassin said today.

Previously the pact had said it was disappointed with Ismail and wanted a meeting with him as he did not seem committed to fulfilling the terms of their agreement.

“It is up to the prime minister to decide when,” said Muhyiddin to the media after a programme with fishermen in Kuala Terengganu.

Muhyiddin is in Terengganu today for the launch of the state-level PN.

Yesterday, PN secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin said the pact would send a delegation to meet Ismail to discuss the implementation of the agreed terms of the cooperation.

Earlier this month, Muhyiddin said he met Ismail to discuss several important matters, including the position of deputy prime minister.

The terms of the understanding between PN and Ismail supposedly allows for the appointment of a deputy prime minister from Bersatu, and for the number of cabinet positions to be allocated to them.

In recent months, Bersatu had been urging the PM to name a minister from the party to replace Zuraida Kamaruddin who had defected to Parti Bangsa Malaysia.

The party is also urging the prime minister to name a deputy from Bersatu. – July 30, 2022.
