DR Mahathir Mohamad will be appearing in many areas including Putrajaya and Pekan prior to the 14th general election (GE14).

The chairman of Pakatan Harapan and Bersatu was asked in which area he will be contesting in in GE14.

“We would like to inform Najib (Razak) that I will be appearing in many places including Putrajaya.

“I have already gone there and I’m quite popular in the area. Many people want to take pictures with me.

“But I will also be going to other places. In Alor Setar there is also pekan (small town).

“I want to go to Pekan and see the people there,” he said at Bersatu’s office in Petaling Jaya today.

This is Dr Mahathir’s first appearance at a PH meeting after he was admitted at Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) last week.

Dr Mahathir also questioned why is there a drastic increase of voters in Pekan.

“Last time there were 30,000 voters in Pekan and now the numbers have increased to 80,000.

“So I want to know how it was increased. We are looking into this issue.”

The Pekan parliamentary seat is currently held by Prime Minister Najib Razak.

Responding to Najib’s allocation of RM1.3 billion for Langkawi, Dr Mahathir sarcastically said he will contest in Kubang Pasu to ensure that the area gets the same allocation.

“I will also contest in Kubang Pasu so he (Najib) will give more allocation.

“Many gifts were given to voters in Langkawi such as motorcycles and other stuff.

“But the turnout (for the event) was so low that each person got three gifts because the prizes were more than people (that attended).” – February 20, 2018.
