6 hurt after car crashes into Malacca restaurant

SIX diners of a tom yam restaurant in Jalan Hang Li Po, Bukit Baru, Malacca, suffered minor injuries after a car crashed into the premises yesterday.

Malacca Tengah police chief Christopher Patit said the 66-year-old driver, who was driving a Perodua Kancil, crashed the vehicle into the restaurant at 7.15pm.

“Investigations found that the driver, who was a patron at the restaurant, wanted to start the vehicle parked in front of the premises.

“However, the driver accidentally stepped on the accelerator, causing the car to lurch forward and crash into the restaurant.

“Several dining tables inside the premises were damaged.”

Six diners, aged 1 to 56, from Penang, Malacca and Johor suffered minor injuries and were treated at Malacca Hospital Green Zone, while the driver escaped uninjured. – Bernama, May 6, 2022.
