UNIVERSITI Utara Malaysia lecturer Dr Kamarul Yusoff has been called up by police to record his statement following his report that Selangor Speaker Hannah Yeoh is proselytising to Muslims.

“I am having my statement taken at the police station now,” Kamarul told The Malaysian Insight on WhatsApp today.

The political science lecturer emerged from the interview more than three hours later, saying he has given the police his full cooperation in the probe.

“I was called to the Bukit Kayu Hitam police station; the police questioned me on eight pages.

“And I cooperated well with the police,” he said, adding that he did not know if he would be asked to return for further questioning.

Kamarul lodged a police report against Yeoh on May 17 at the police station in Changloon, Kedah. He said Yeoh, a Christian, was trying to influence Muslim through her autobiography, Becoming Hannah published in 2014.

Kamarul had also accused DAP of hypocrisy in matters of religion, and used Yeoh as an example of how DAP wished to to separate religion from politics only when the religion was Islam.

Yeoh had responded to Kamarul’s police report with a police report of her own against the lecturer.

In another post this morning, Kamarul said more than 100 academics had signed his memorandum to the Registrar of Societies to ask DAP to show cause for activities against Islam and Bumiputeras. – May 22, 2017.

  • Does Hannah's book talk more about the Almighty than the BM version of the Bible? Why don't he make a report on the holy book in Sabah and Sarawak?
