PAKATAN Harapan (PH) Youth has accepted the decision of the top leadership to field former Malacca assemblymen Idris Haron and Nor Azman Hassan, both ex-Umno members, under the PH banner in the coming Malacca elections.

However, its chief, Howard Lee, admitted that there are coalition members who strongly disagree with the decision.

“I do not want to state my personal stand as this is not the proper platform, but it is clear that there are quarters who disagree with PH.

“But when a decision has been made with consensus, it should be accepted. For me, it is the Malacca voters who will decide whether the decision is correct, and we will not precede their decision.”

PH chairman Anwar Ibrahim had yesterday announced that Idris will stand in Asahan, which is a traditional PKR seat, while Nor Azman will stand in Pantai Kundor, a traditional Amanah seat.

Lee said he feels that there are talks and negative narratives arising from the decision, but said it is considered normal and common in an election.

“For me, what is important now is that we deliver what PH is offering and bring the PH administration agenda in Malacca (if we win).”

He had earlier said PH Youth welcomed the PH presidential council’s decision in fielding the wing’s members in the state elections, with more than 35% or 10 out of the 28 seats in the assembly.

PH Youth candidates include Muhamad Danish Zainudin, 25, (Pengkalan Batu); Leng Chau Yen, 37, (Bandar Hilir); Mohamad Asri Ibrahim, 35, (Lendu); Law Bing Haw, 40, (Machap Jaya); B. Prasanth Kumar, 27, (Rim); and, Farzana Hayani Mohd Nasir, 21, (Sg Rambai). – Bernama, November 7, 2021.
