THE Education and Health Ministries are in discussions to allow Form 5 students back to school without rotation following vaccination against Covid-19.

Education Minister Dr Radzi Jidin said 97% of Form 5 students have had one vaccine dose and 57.9% have completed the course.

“Students have started returning to school and the standard operating procedure has been well implemented. We may consider allowing some groups of students (to attend physical classes) on a non-rotational basis.

“Maybe we can start with Form 5 students (as well as students who will be sitting for) the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) examination,” he told reporters after visiting SK Tengku Zainun, Tampin, today.

Meanwhile, Radzi said 339,951 students were allowed to attend physical classes in the states, territorie and islands that had moved into phase 4 of the national recovery plan, namely Negri Sembilan, Labuan and Langkawi, beginning yesterday and today.

School will reopen on November 1 in phase 4 for students in Years 1, 2 and 3 and Forms 3 and 4.

School will resume a week later on November 8  for students in Years 4, 5 and 6 and remove classes, Forms 1 and 2.

In the meantime, Radzi said the system of alternating face-to-face and virtual classes was progressing without hitches.

The teachers would tell the students what they needed to do to prep for face-to-face classes the week before, he said.

“When the students come to school the following week, teachers will look at which topic their students failed to understand during the (virtual) sessions and help them with that.” – Bernama, October 18, 2021.
