87.6% of adult population fully vaccinated

MALAYSIA is almost reaching a 90% vaccination rate, with 87.6% of the adult population being fully inoculated as of yesterday before the upcoming reopening of interstate borders.

According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, 206,574 vaccine doses have been administered under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme as of yesterday, of which 96,024 are first doses and 110,550 second doses.

A total of 44,352,079 doses have been administered under the programme since it started on February 24.

In the Klang Valley, 111.6% (6,878,541) of adults have been fully inoculated.

Sabah remains the state with the lowest vaccination rate, at 61.7 % (1,702,535) of its adult population.

The CovidNow website tracker projects that 100% of the adult population will be fully vaccinated by October 26.

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said interstate travel would be allowed when 90% of the adult population are fully vaccinated.

The ministry said 55.7% or 1.7 million adolescents have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 3.5% or 108,826 have been fully vaccinated.

The tracker said 80% of adolescents are expected to be fully vaccinated by October 31.

Adolescents aged 12 to 17 are currently being administered with the Pfizer and Sinovac vaccines. – October 4, 2021.
