Teens in Terengganu to be vaccinated once 80% of state's adult population fully inoculated

THE vaccination programme for teens aged 12 to 17 in Terengganu will begin as soon as 80% of the state’s adult population are fully vaccinated, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Dr Adham Baba said today.

He said a total of 93,262 teens in Terengganu have been identified as eligible Covid-19 vaccine recipients, adding that the vaccination plan will be conducted in schools.

Adham said as of September 10, 67% of the adult population in Terengganu have been fully vaccinated while more than 90% have received at least one vaccine dose.

As of yesterday, a total of 1.26 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in Terengganu.

Meanwhile a total of 87,538 senior citizens, 16,093 persons with disabilities, and 221,301 individuals with comorbidities in Terengganu have also completed their Covid-19 jabs, Adham said.

He said the state will be receiving an additional 643,187 vaccine doses throughout the month.

“Terengganu has also expanded the walk-in vaccination programme for individuals aged 18 at selected PPVs (vaccination centres) in all districts. So far, at least 14 PPVs have implemented this walk-in vaccination,” he said. – Bernama, September 12, 2021.
