MALAYSIANS arriving on Langkawi by flight from September 16 do not need a permission letter from police, said Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

Khairy in a tweet said only those travelling overland to the island from other states need the document.

“For the Langkawi pilot tourism programme ‘travel bubble’, a letter from the police was for the purpose of interstate travel and roadblocks if they are travelling by land,” he said.

On September 9, the government announced that Langkawi was open to domestic visitors from all over the country except people residing in areas under an enhanced movement control order.

The island resort was chosen as the first destination on the tourism bubble pilot project for people who are fully vaccinated against Covid-19. – Bernama, September 12, 2021.
