68% of adults fully vaccination against Covid

HEALTH authorities administered 289,958 doses of Covid-19 vaccines yesterday, moving 68% or 15,926,601 of the adult population to the ranks of the fully vaccinated.

The special committee for Covid-19 vaccine access said 136,177 people received their first dose yesterday, while 153,841 received their second.

To date, 20,543,016 people, or 87.8% of the adult population, have received a first shot in Malaysia.

This is also the first time this month that the committee recorded below 300,000 in administered vaccines. The last time it recorded below the count was on August 31.

Klang Valley has overtaken Labuan as the state with the highest rate of full vaccination, with 5,947,420 people, of 96.5% of its adult population, fully vaccinated.

More than 36 million doses of vaccines have been administered since February 24, the start of the national immunisation drive.

Health minister Khairy Jamaluddin said that the government expected 80% of the adult population to be vaccinated by the end of October, by which time Covid-19 would be endemic in the country.

Science, technology and innovation minister Adham Baba said that Sabah, Kelantan, Kedah, Perak, Johor, Pahang and Terengganu will be given special attention as the vaccination rate in these states is below 55%. – September 6, 2021.
