THE Kuala Lumpur High Court today dismissed a suit filed by former Bersatu chief activist Mohd Anas Sudin against party president Muhyiddin Yassin.

Justice Nik Hasmat Nik Mohamad also ordered Anas to pay RM5,000 in cost to Muhyiddin after allowing the latter’s application to strike out the suit, on the grounds that it was a trivial case, abused court proceedings and lacked any cause of action.

The judge made the decision in chambers in the presence of lawyer Rosli Dahlan, representing Muhyiddin, and Hazwan Mohd Nor, representing Anas.

Anas filed the suit on June 6 last year, in which he claimed that Muhyiddin had issued a defamatory statement at the Parliament building lobby on April 6 of the same year, saying he (Anas) had become a member of PKR even before quitting Bersatu.

Anas claimed that the statement was false and malicious, aimed at damaging his image and reputation. – Bernama, January 19, 2018.
