THE Perlis health department will inspect about 2,000 business premises statewide to ensure it is ready to move to phases three and four of the movement-control under the National Recovery Plan, said its director Dr Sirajuddin Hashim.

He said inspections had been carried out since yesterday to ensure that owners of premises comply with the standard operating procedure (SOP) set by the government to contain the spread of Covid-19.

“The Covid-19 pandemic control special operation will be carried out until Saturday with the involvement of about 60 healthcare personnel in 16 teams. Inspections will be carried out at six public locations, namely in Kangar, Padang Besar, Kuala Perlis and Arau in preparing moving the state post-Covid,” he told reporters in Arau today.

Checks conducted at supermarkets and shops today found that all premises’ owners had cooperated well with the authorities.

Sirajuddin said inspections were based on the educational enforcement concept in an effort to encourage people in the state to be responsible and comply with the SOP.

Perlis recorded two new cases today, bringing the cumulative number of cases in the state to 662 since the pandemic hit the country. – Bernama, July 27, 2021.
