FOUR Kuala Lumpur hotels have been designated to house Covid-19 positive persons from the B40 group for free, Federal Territories Minister Annuar Musa said today.

The four hotels are Royal Chulan Hotel in Jalan Conlay, International Youth Center in Bandar Tun Razak, Tamu Hotel in Kg Baru, and Travelodge City Center Hotel.

This initiative targets people from the B40 income bracket who are not able to quarantine at home, or have the means to go to a low-risk quarantine and treatment centres.

Only positive cases from Category 1 (asymptomatic) and Category 2 (mild symptoms) are offered this scheme.

“However, many from the B40 families from Perumahan Awam dan Projek Perumahan Rakyat live in cramped and crowded homes that are not suitable for self-quarantine.

“They also could not afford to go to the Covid-19 Low-Risk Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRCs) that needed payment.

“This move will help those who cannot afford and also stem an increase of positive cases by limiting close contacts among family members,” he said in a statement.

Annuar, who is also the chairman of the Federal Territories Covid-19 Coordination and Management Centre, said that the relevant agencies had agreed to allow the affected persons to stay in special PKRCs.

“The evacuation operation of about a thousand people had started in collaboration with the Covid Assessment Center, Federal Territories Ministry, Kuala Lumpur Health Department, and other government agencies and departments,” the Ketereh MP said.

He added that the ministry is working to provide more Covid-19 treatment facilities in the Federal Territory to assist those who struggle with the self-quarantine arrangements. – July 26, 2021.
