PASSERS-BY were shocked to discover a body wrapped in tarpaulin by the side of the road in front of a restaurant at Km57, Jalan Gerik-Kuala Kangsar, near Kampung Lubok Merbau yesterday.

Perak Criminal Investigations Department chief Anuar Othman said police were informed of the find about 10.15am yesterday.

“The victim is believed to be a local in his 40s, based on an injection scar on his left shoulder, and is suspected to have been dead for less than 36 hours. A dead chicken was found near the body,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.

He said the victim was wearing shorts and a shirt and shorts and had wounds on the right side of his head.

Anuar said it is believed that the victim died somewhere else and the body was dumped on the main route from Gerik to Kuala Kangsar, away from residential areas.

“No identification documents were found on the victim’s body and the case has been classified as sudden death  for now.

“Missing person reports will be checked immediately to identify the victim,” he said.

The body was taken to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death. – Bernama, March 30, 2021.
