KEPONG MP Lim Lip Eng has called out the authorities for their apparent inaction in the case of Federal Territories Minister Annuar Musa, who police are investigating on suspicion of breaching the movement control order (MCO), despite Lim saying clear evidence exists of wrongdoing.

In a statement, Lim asked if the Attorney-General’s Chambers have directed police to close the case.

“Seven days have passed but no action has been taken. Will there be a ‘no further action’ directive?

“There is enough evidence given to the police. It came from all those who were at the table, including the minister himself.

“There is no need to give statements if, at the end of the day, people with high positions can be set free,” said Lim in the statement today.

Last week, Kuala Lumpur police chief Saiful Azly Kamaruddin said the police will be calling Annuar as part of its investigation that he violated the MCO.

“We will call him to have his statement recorded and to complete the investigation,” said Saiful without elaborating further.

Annuar was accused of violating MCO regulations by eating at the same table with six others when the SOP set by the National Security Council only allows for two people.

In his defence, Annuar said on Facebook that he was there only for a short period of time.

“When I was at the event, I sat down for a moment and moved because the organiser did not follow SOP.

This is not the first time Annuar has been accused of breaching SOP. Last month, he was photographed walking with two other people without wearing a mask.

On that occasion, he said he met his two friends by coincidence after an evening jog. – February 21, 2021.

  • Why dont he just voluntarily pay the fine and get it over with. I am sure he has the means to pay.

    • Indeed and follow the practice by another Minister from PAS who paid his fine and willing to forego 4 months of his salary. Annuar should do better than that.
