NINE Pakatan Harapan MPs will boycott a Federal Territories consultative committee (JakoWIP) meeting tomorrow in protest against FT Minister Annuar Musa’s silence to their queries and suggestions.
“The decision was made because the FT Minister Annuar Musa had refused to hold a special meeting to meet all the Kuala Lumpur MPs since his appointment in March 2020,” they said in a joint statement today.
The MPs also said they have not received a reply from Annuar to a letter on December 7 on their feedback on the establishment of the Federal Territory consultative committee.
They said that there were some policy matters that they cannot accept, including the terms of reference, membership and meeting rules.
“The basic matters raised in our letter dated December 7 have not been answered, or the proposed amendments have not been made, including the participation of the Residents Representative Council (MPP) as members of the meeting as they are political appointments without the mandate of the people of Kuala Lumpur.
“The minister should be aware that the people of Kuala Lumpur have made a very clear choice in the 14th general election by electing us as MPs to represent their voices.
“Therefore, the FT minister must respect the mandate and immediately hold a special meeting with us to review and resolve matters that have been raised previously,” they said.
The nine PH MPs are Tan Kok Wai (Cheras), Fahmi Fadzil (Lembah Pantai), Teresa Kok (Seputeh), Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad (Setiawangsa), Fong Kui Lun (Bukit Bintang), Dr Tan Yee Kew (Wangsa Maju), Hannah Yeoh (Segambut), Lim Lip Eng (Kepong) and P. Prabakaran (Batu).
Of the 11 constituencies in Kuala Lumpur, two are held by the ruling Bersatu – Rina Harun (Titiwangsa) and Kamaruddin Jaffar (Bandar Tun Razak).
The PH MPs had previously called Annuar for a meeting in October and January. – February 18, 2021.
