Agong praises MPs for Budget 2021 approval

YANG di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has expressed his appreciation to all MPs for giving their support to approve Budget 2021 today.

Comptroller of the Royal Household Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin conveyed the king’s sentiments that it augured well for the people and the economic recovery of the country in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The Agong has expressed his appreciation to all MPs who have supported His Majesty’s advice on October 28 to provide support for the welfare and security of the people, and the country.

“Budget 2021 is also very important for frontline staff and policies to curb the threat of the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said in a statement today, soon after an amended Budget 2021 at the policy stage was passed by lawmakers in Parliament today.

The controversial bill was passed, after 13 days of debate and a second reading, by voice vote at 3.26pm.

Fadil said that, as the head of state, Al-Sultan Abdullah has great respect for every registered political party.

“The Agong also appreciates the role and trust given to the MPs in defending the welfare of the people.

“In this regard, His Majesty is very appreciative of the commitment and spirit of consensus as well as the co-operation of each party because it is very important to maintain the momentum of economic recovery for the common good.”

He added that the king has also expressed his full confidence in the government’s ability to lead the country’s administration at a time when the country is being tested by various crises. – November 26, 2020.
