Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!

Such was the independence Euphoria

Born was a new country of diverse races,

Destined to face multiple challenges.

Tested to the limits was this young nation

Wise leaders and citizens opted for moderation.

Still racial and religious strife can wreck it all,

If in words and deeds we’re not careful.

Today we remember our pioneers.

Thank the people for their untiring endeavours.

Our journey to greatness must continue,

In a post-pandemic world cast anew!
