Elderly women found dead with throat cut in Sg Petani


AN elderly woman was found dead in her bedroom with her neck slashed, in Jalan Anggerik, Bandar Aman Jaya, Sungai Petani, today. A pillow had been placed over her face.

Kuala Muda district police chief Shamsudin Mamat said the body of Kuek Choo Hong, 61, was covered in blood.

“The victim, a sales assistant at a supermarket, lived in the house with her 62-year-old husband. At 1pm today, her elder sister went to the house together with the victim’s daughter and son-in-law after the victim did not turn up for work and could not be contacted.

“The front door was found locked from the outside while the air conditioner was on. They broke the padlock and entered the house where they found the victim in her bedroom,” he said,.

The wound on her neck was 12cm long. She is believed to have been dead for more than 48 hours.

Shamsudin said police took some DNA samples of the body and were tracking down the victim’s husband to aid in the investigation.

“A neighbour told us that the victim’s husband was last seen leaving the house on Saturday in a Proton Iswara car, while her son-in-law said the victim and her husband had often quarrelled,” he added.

The body was sent to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Star.  The case has been classified as murder. – Bernama, August 10, 2020.
