Agong is 2020 census’ first respondent

YANG di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah is the first respondent in the Malaysian Population and Housing Census 2020.

In a short video shown at the census’ launch by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin in Putrajaya today, the king called on all Malaysians to participate.

“Today, I have filled out the e-census form. Together, let’s take responsibility and ensure the well-being of the people and the development of the country.”

After the launch, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Mustapa Mohamed expressed the Statistics Department’s thanks and appreciation to the Agong for supporting the census.

“This is the first time we’ve received such strong support from a royal.”

He said getting accurate data is important for the government to implement plans for the nation, including preparing the annual budget and formulating education, housing, health and other policies. – Bernama, July 7, 2020.
