No further action against Prabakaran for flouting MCO

THE police have dropped their investigations against Batu MP P. Prabakaran for allegedly breaching the movement control order, and have classified the case as “no further action” (NFA).

“I have been informed by the police that my arrest for allegedly breaching the MCO and obstructing (the duties of a) public servant have been classified as NFA.

“I thank the police for being fair in investigating my case.

“I will continue to focus to serve my constituents and serve the people of Batu,” Prabakaran said in a statement today.

In April, Prabakaran was arrested for obstructing a public servant from carrying out his duties and for flouting the MCO when he went to check on his constituents at the Seri Murni Apartment in Selayang, Kuala Lumpur, which was placed under an enhanced MCO.

He was investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code and Rule 3 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Disease (Measures within the local Infected Areas) Regulations 2020.

He faced a two-year jail sentence, a fine not exceeding RM10,000, or both, if convicted. – June 18, 2020.
