The remand order against the 56-year-old accused was issued by assistant registrar Wan Aziantie Wan Ab Karim @ Isa.

Three other men, aged between 42 and 63, who were managers of a supplier company, were also remanded to facilitate investigations.

According to sources, the former director allegedly submitted eight false claims related to works at the institute in 2018.

All four were arrested about 10am yesterday at the Terengganu Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission office.

The probe is being conducted under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009, which carries a maximum jail term of 20 years and a fine of not less than five times the amount of the gratification, or RM10,000, whichever is higher, upon conviction. – Bernama, June 3, 2020.
