Singapore virus tally surpasses 34,000

SINGAPORE today confirmed another 506 coronavirus infections, five of which are community cases, bringing the national tally to 34,366.

The Health Ministry, in a statement, said of the five community cases, two are locals or permanent residents, and the other three are work permit holders.

It said the vast majority of the new cases comprise foreign workers living in dormitories.

In its detailed report yesterday, the ministry classified 1,677 infections as community cases, imported (580) and migrant workers in dorms (31,603).

There are 461 patients still in hospital, with eight in intensive care.

Twenty-three people have died of the disease. – Bernama, May 30, 2020.
