ROAD tax and driver’s licence renewals should be done online during the movement control order period and the proof of payment used in lieu of physical documents, Transport Minister Wee Ka Siong said.

“The public needn’t be anxious about getting the physical road tax sticker or driver’s licence.

“Just use the proof of payment from the online renewal,” he said in a Facebook post.

All Road Transport Department counters nationwide are closed under the MCO until March 31, including post offices.

Wee said renewals should be done at the MySikap JPJ or MyEG online portals.

The government shut all schools, varsities and non-essential businesses on March 18 to curb the spread of Covid-19. People have been told to stay indoors and only one person per household may venture out to buy food at markets.

Police and the military have set up roadblocks nationwide to enforce the MCO and people can be questioned about their business outside the house.

Under the order, people may only leave their homes to buy food and necessary items or for medical emergencies.

Those working in essential services are to carry a letter from their employer. – March 24, 2020.

  • Just tell the people no renewals necessary until the MCO is over. They will not be summoned at the roadblocks if their driving license or road tax are not renewed under the current circumstances. Not everyone especially the elderly has a credit card or the knowledge/skill to use the online renewal system. Ministers like him dont seem to what hardship the people are going through! Priority now is food not renewal of license or road tax,
