FOUR people, two of them children, were killed in a fire that broke out in a house in Weld Quay, George Town, about 6am today.

The northeast district police said the two child and two women victims were Lim Yin Chun, 9, Im Jia Yiin, 8, Lau Sai Poh, 62 and Chen Yen, 35, who was a Chinese national. 

Firemen found the bodies of two adults and a child in the toilet and living room on the ground floor at about 7am, and the body of another child upstairs about 40 minutes later

The Fire and Rescue Department was alerted of the fire in Pintasan Cecil 5 at 6.08am and firemen arrived at the scene nine minutes later. The fire had already destroyed much of the cluster house when 20 firemen from the Lebuh Pantai and Jalan Perak fire stations reached the scene. 

The firemen managed to bring the blaze under control at 6.32am and completely put out the fire at 7.10am. – November 15, 2017.
