LABUAN marine police yesterday arrested seven foreigners, including two undocumented Filipinos, for fishing illegally in Malaysian territory.

Sabah marine police Region Four commander Mohamad Pajeri Ali said the fishermen were detained about 2pm in Labuan waters, in an integrated operation dubbed “Op Gelora”.

He said they were using “trawl nets below 38mm”, which is an offence under Section 26(b) of the Fisheries Act 1985.

“We seized their fishing trawler and engine, fishing equipment, and catch worth RM240,000.” – Bernama, March 15, 2020.
