THE Perak Forestry Department has denied cases of leptospirosis at three recreational areas in Taman Eko Rimba in Tapah.

The department, via a Facebook post, gave the assurance that if there was such a case in the areas, it would immediately report it to the authorities and make the public aware of the matter.

The statement was made following a memo issued by the Royal Malay Regiment (RAMD) camp in Tapah dated February 27 saying there were cases of leptospirosis in Lata Kinjang, Lata Iskandar and Kuala Woh.

Through the memo, all army personnel and their family members at the camp were also advised against visiting the three areas.

The department said it had conducted investigations into the matter and asked the RAMD to rectify the statement. – Bernama, February 28, 2020.
