PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali and vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin have been sacked from their party, its national leadership committee decided today.

Secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail announced this to reporters waiting outside PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya today, where the meeting took place.

“They have been sacked for going against the party,” he said.

Azmin and Zuraida have had an open rift with president Anwar Ibrahim for more than a year now, from around the 2018 party elections.

Their sacking today comes at the same time Dr Mahathir Mohamad is said to have submitted his resignation letter as prime minister to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

After the PKR central leadership meeting today, Anwar did not speak to the press and is said to be preparing to head to Istana Negara for an audience with the Agong, leaving Saifuddin to address reporters.

When asked about Dr Mahathir’s resignation, Saifuddin said: “We can’t comment on that.” – February 24, 2020.

  • Their political career is over for these 11people. Nobody will vote for traitors and have them join their party. A bunch of trouble makers.
