A MEETING between Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Anwar Ibrahim, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Lim Guan Eng is expected to take place at the prime minister’s residence in Seri Kembangan shortly.

Earlier this morning, Anwar, Wan Azizah and Lim had arrived at the Prime Minister’s Office at the Putra Perdana building in Putrajaya, but were seen leaving the building about 10.25am in their official cars.

Dr Mahathir did not turn up at the office and it is learnt that his meeting with Wan Azizah, the deputy prime minister, Anwar, who is PKR president, and DAP secretary-general Lim will be held at his home instead.

They arrived at Seri Kembangan about 10.45am to meet Dr Mahathir at his residence.

Amanah president Mohamad Sabu is also said to have been summoned, making it a meeting of all the PH component parties.

Dr Mahathir was not at the Istana Negara yesterday when the Yang di-Pertuan Agong reportedly met six leaders from political parties on both sides of the divide, amid rumours that the Pakatan Harapan ruling coalition was set to break up.

The prime minister also did not attend a dinner at Sheraton Hotel in Petaling Jaya last night, organised by Anwar’s rival, PKR deputy president Azmin Ali, for 131 MPs that included the opposition.

No statements were given after the dinner which was held purportedly to affirm Dr Mahathir as prime minister.

Preceding yesterday’s meetings, the PH presidential council on Friday night decided to let Dr Mahathir decide the date of his resignation after November in order to hand over to Anwar.

Till now, there is no official comment on the purpose of yesterday’s flurry of meetings and dinner.

But more meetings are scheduled to take place today, by the DAP leadership, the PKR leadership and the King’s audience with Anwar and Wan Azizah this afternoon. – February 24, 2020.
