TWO Klang Valley MPs today urged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate the RM211.5 million Bangsar-Damansara elevated project and provide an update on the case.

Fahmi Fadzil (Lembah Pantai) and Hannah Yeoh (Segambut) joined residents’ associations to lodge a report with MACC on September 19, 2019.

The Bukit Damansara House Owners’ Association, Medan Damansara Residents Association, Bukit Bandaraya Residents’ Association and Save KL Coalition are also opposed to the City Hall project.

“We are deeply concerned that such enormous spending of public funds by DBKL in such close proximity with a private development project has not been done via open tender,” the two lawmakers said in a statement.

“As such, we are repeating our call for MACC to urgently investigate and provide an update on the findings to the residents.”

DBKL will fund partially the RM211.5 million elevated road project by forking out RM100 million while Impian Ekspresi Sdn Bhd will cover the rest, they said.

The MPs said construction works have commenced on the project site despite strong opposition from residents.

The elevated highway will be built at the Sprint Highway junction with Jalan Maarof to Jalan Semantan, cutting travel time from Bangsar to Pusat Bandar Damansara.

The highway is expected to be completed in June 2020.

Former Federal Territories minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the 1.3km three-lane highway will ease traffic congestion in the area. – February 20, 2020.
