MUJAHID Yusof Rawa yesterday met the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) over controversial businessman Muhammad Sajad Kamaruzzaman’s umrah trip.

The minister in the Prime Minister’s Department said the meeting was held so that prompt action can be taken against Sajad, or popularly known as Sajat, for uploading photos and videos of himself wearing women’s prayer garb in Mecca.

“I will take firm action against Muhammad Sajad Kamaruzzaman, who uploaded photos and videos of himself wearing women’s prayer garments while in Mecca. (The photos and videos) have gone viral on social media and led to discomfort among Muslims.

“Immediate action will be taken by MCMC,’’ he said after the meeting at his office in Putrajaya.

He said he met MCMC as the agency has the power to curb social media content that creates public unease.

Mujahid also met travel agency Albayt Travel (M) Sdn Bhd, which handled Sajat and his family’s umrah trip.

The minister said Sajat must perform the umrah as a man, based on the “haj muzakarah” ruling concerning “mukhannas” (hermaphrodite/transsexual) individuals. – Bernama, February 4, 2020.
