ACTION should be taken against party leaders who negotiate with the opposition without authorisation, said a Johor PKR delegate.

“The party’s disciplinary committee must take action against leaders who initiate talks with the opposition party without the party’s approval,” said Mohd Shahrun Radzi Salehudin at the 14th PKR Congress held in the Malacca International Trade Centre today.

His comments come after PKR deputy president Azmin Ali met opposition MPs at his home on November 19.

The Barisan Nasional lawmakers involved said they discussed the funding needs of their constituencies.

Azmin has not explained the meeting at his residence in Putrajaya and Pakatan Harapan leaders have chided him for it.

Shahrun today urged the PKR to purge traitors in its ranks.

“There is a traitor in the party. We don’t want our party to self-destruct because of betrayal.

“There’s no respect and honour towards the president. I joined the party in 2008 but have never seen what happened yesterday,” he said.

The PKR Youth congress yesterday was disrupted yesterday when groups of youth tried to break into the meeting.

Shahrun also took a swipe at PKR leaders who do not attend central leadership council (MPP) meetings.

“We must rid the party of leaders who don’t attend meetings but attack the party through the media. What kind of morals do they have?”

It was reported that Azmin did not attend any of the 20 central leadership and PKR political bureau meetings since the party election last year.

Party leaders seen to be aligned with Azmin, such as Zuraida Kamaruddin, have also reportedly stayed away from meetings. – December 7, 2019.
