Kulai police arrest man for rape and robbery


POLICE have picked up a man believed to be involved in a robbery and rape case of an Indonesian woman in Saleng, Kulai on Saturday (November 9).

Kulai police chief Tok Beng Yeow said the 31-year-old man was arrested by a team from the Kulai intelligence branch and CID at Taman Putri at about 8am yesterday.

“On Saturday about 10.36am, an Indonesian woman lodged a police report at Kulai station alleging she had been raped and robbed of her belongings by a man at 4am on the same day.

“Acting on information on the suspect, police arrested the man and he confessed to the crime during police questioning,” he said in a statement today.

Tok said in the arrest, police also seized a knife and the personal belongings of the victim.

“The man will be remanded starting today until this Saturday,” he added. – Bernama, November 12, 2019.
