THE Rural Development Ministry aims to produce 20 millionaires from among entrepreneurs from rural areas by the end of next year, said Minister Rina Mohd Harun.

She said such figures will inspire other rural folk to follow in their footsteps.

“When people see someone succeeding in a particular field, it motivates them to make effort to achieve the same level of success. For example, selling products like fried onions and love letters (a type of traditional biscuit) can be a lucrative business.

“The ministry’s target is to produce at least 20 millionaires from among rural entrepreneurs by the end of next year,” she told reporters at a meet-and-greet session in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

She said initiatives to boost rural folk’s socio-economic status involve various parties, including the private sector and civil society groups.

“To develop rural areas, the ministry needs support from all quarters.” – Bernama, November 6, 2019.

  • It has no impact to Malay B40!!! Take a bigger view,' small' minister, why not create 200 hundred-thousandaires? U R not addressing the rural poors. U can just give RM20milli9n grants to create 20 millionaires, your political supporters but this will have zero impact on the entrepreneurship of the Malays. To create 20 millionaires in one year is just a political show. It takes at least 5 to 10yrs to build a practical and self reliance entrepreneur. I think u r just creating 20 Ali baba entrepreneurs. The poor Malays can never have a chance under this type of mentality minister.
