THE Perak speaker last night lodged a police report, following information received on the rape case involving state exco Paul Yong.

Ngeh Koo Ham lodged the report at the Ipoh district police headquarters at 10.15pm.

“About 6pm today (yesterday), while I was at a hotel in Jalan Datoh, Ipoh, I received information that the person who took the Indonesian maid to lodge a police report on the alleged rape is believed to have received RM100,000.

“She was also threatened using a pistol to not expose the secret.

“I believe there is a reason behind the allegation that Yong raped his maid,” he told reporters after lodging the report.

Yong, who is state Housing, Local Government, Public Transport, Non-Muslim Affairs and New Village Committee chairman, will be charged with rape at the sessions court today.

The 23-year-old woman lodged a report against the exco on July 8.

Yong was arrested the following day. He was then released on police bail. – Bernama, August 23, 2019.

  • It is time politicians concentrate on serving the rakyat instead of bringing their opponents down. Lately there has been a proliferation of incidents where politics has featured in the exposing of sexual episodes much to the disgust and disappointment of the rakyat. The PDRM for what it is worth should clamp down on the perpetrators of such scandals
