Everton and Koeman

I PERSONALLY like Ronald Koeman, however he has got it all wrong this summer. The sale of Romelu Lukaku was inevitable for Everton or Koeman, however buying Gylfi Sigurdsson for US$45 million was self capitulation.

Like most pundits have pointed out, it is not the results that are cause for concern. The performance is feeble and the play is even more alarming. Players do not seem to be on the same wavelength with the manager either on the pitch.

I can’t agree with fans who say Everton cannot break into the top six. Yes, Everton cannot compete with the likes of United, City and Chelsea. However Everton can still grab wins over Liverpool and Arsenal if they play right up to their potential.

I’m not a big fan of Martinez, yet they played some sublime football under him and now they have seemed to lost their core identity which obvious and sad to see.

Koeman might have gone out and spent  loads of cash but the failure to replace Lukaku is glaring and their attempt and failure to lure Olivier Giroud is coming back to haunt them . The continued insistence of playing most of his players out of position also is quite baffling. I mean why pay US$45 million for a player then play out of his natural position?

Currently there 3 players playing in the No.10 slot and that is a complete waste of resources if you ask me. Get Niasse in and use Rooney as a no.9 , where he will surely  be more dangerous in the box and free up the No.10 space for Sigurdsson .

The Chairman has given him the vote of confidence and Everton are not known to be quick-trigger kind of club which means he is safe for now. Come the next international window and this type of malaise and form continues, we might see less patience from the board. Let’s not forget Carlo Ancelotti is currently out of a job and will be a good short term band aid for Everton. – October 7, 2017.
