NAJIB Razak’s son, Mohd Nazifuddin Najib, has been slapped with an RM37.6 million tax suit after failing to settle his taxes, reports Malaysiakini.

This comes after Putrajaya seeks to recover RM1.69 billion from Najib, owed to the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) for the assessment years 2011 to 2017.

According to the writ of summons sighted by Malaysiakini, the IRB filed the suit against the 36-year-old businessman at the Kuala Lumpur High Court registry on July 24.

Nazifuddin is accused of failing to pay RM1.54 million, RM5.72 million, RM5.44 million, RM3.78 million, RM1.8 million, RM2.3 million and RM12.05 million as additional tax assessment between 2011 and 2017.

For failure to settle the amount owed, Nazifuddin was hit with a 10% fee on the total amount.

The IRB branch in Kuala Lumpur sent a notice on March 18 reminding Nazifuddin to settle the back taxes within 30 days of receipt of the letter. – August 8, 2019.
