THE defence in the murder trial of Kim Jong-nam has failed to get the prosecution to list the names of four North Koreans in the charge sheet along with two women accused of murdering the half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

Shah Alam High Court judge Azmi Ariffin said there was nothing wrong with the charge against Indonesian Siti Aisyah, 25, and Vietnamese Doan Thi Huong, 28.

Doan’s lawyer, Naran Singh, earlier said it was unfair that the defence was kept in the dark about the four North Koreans’ identities as it would put the two female accused at a disadvantage.

“The four of them had the intention of killing the deceased. We have the right to know their identities,” Naran told reporters outside the courtroom.

Siti Aisyah’s lawyer, Gooi Soon Seng, agreed, saying the four should be named because they had the intention of killing Jong-nam.

Doan and Siti Aisyah were charged with Jong-nam’s murder by smearing a toxic chemical on his face at the klia2 departure hall on February 13.

They pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to them earlier today.

The four North Koreans were captured on airport CCTV, monitoring the women’s actions. They left on a flight for Jakarta shortly after Jong-nam’s murder.

Malaysian police, on March 16, said they had obtained an Interpol Red Notice for the four men, and named them as Ji Hyon Ri and Song Hak Hong, both 32; Jong Gil O, 54; and Jae Nam Ri, 56. – October 2, 2017.
