POLICE today did not rule out the possibility that someone with influence was behind the sex videos implicating a minister.

Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador said this today when asked if there was a conspiracy behind the sex videos and if those arrested so far were taking orders from someone in position.

“Yes, maybe. We are looking into that angle, too,” Hamid said.

The IGP, however, was not pleased that his men were now burdened with this case, saying there are other crimes to fight as well.

“Our main focus right now is to solve this case.

“We should be focusing on crime, drugs and others, but my men are burdened by this video.

“It’s a pity that we have to look at this, something filthy, but what can we do?”

The six men arrested on Sunday night are currently being questioned by police on their roles in the sex videos, he said.

Police have to be careful as he did not want innocent parties to be punished.

“This is a sensitive case. We do not want to be careless as we want to avoid punishing the innocent. That is why we have to be sure and we seek advice from the Attorney-General’s Chambers,” Hamid said after presenting awards at the 4th General Operations Force (PGA) battalion camp in Semenyih today.

“Those arrested are now being interrogated.”

Hamid, however, did not reveal if all six are registered PKR members.

Checks showed that apart from Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz, who was sacked from PKR, at least one other suspect is a PKR member.

The six have been remanded to assist in the investigations into the distribution of sex clips implicating Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali.

It is learnt they are under investigation for distributing pornography, under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

Last month, a series of clips showing two men engaging in sexual acts were released on WhatsApp.

Haziq admitted to being one of the men in the videos and said Azmin was the other.

Azmin had denied the claims, calling the affair a plot to ruin his career. PKR has since sacked Haziq.

This is the second time Haziq has been arrested in connection with the case. He was picked up and held overnight by police past month. – July 16, 2019.
